Myotherapy is a branch of manual therapy that involves evidence-based assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of myofascial pain, injury and joint dysfunction.
Using a variety of techniques such as Massage, Dry needling, Functional release Cupping, and Corrective exercises; the goal of treatment is to reduce pain and restore optimal mechanics within the body.
Myofascial dry needling
Dry needling which was only developed in the 20th century, involves insertion of needles into Trigger points and is a very effective way of treating myofascial pain.
It differs from acupuncture quite significantly as acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine involving the insertion of needles at various points all over the body based on a comprehensive map of meridians, or energy lines.
